Avalon - Crow Wing County Jail is a licensed, outpatient chemical dependency center, specializing in helping those currently incarcerated in the Crow Wing County Jail.
We provide chemical health to help those adult individuals with alcohol and chemical issues who are currently in the Crow Wing County Jail.
Individuals come to us either on their own accord or recommended by a probation agent or attorney during a turning point in their lives. Our staff also works with jail administration and county social services to help identify inmates who could benefit from accessing chemical health services. Individuals who take part in our program are also able to participate in other programs offered at the jail, which further increases the effectiveness of their treatment experience.
Working closely with a wide range of community resources, we build a support system to promote the long-term recovery of each person. We do this by placing heavy emphasis on behavioral change and by addressing the impact of criminal thinking. We also offer gender-specific groups so men and women can connect and learn with people who share similar situations and perspectives.
Our programs are flexible in content and length and are based on the individual’s progress, needs and level of functioning. Upon release, those who have not completed their treatment program in the jail setting may transfer to our Avalon-Brainerd community-based outpatient program or to a program located in their county of residence.
Our treatment approach is abstinence-based and draws from:
• Motivational Interviewing Techniques
• Cognitive Skills Training
• 12-Step Principles
• Reality Therapy
• Family Systems Dynamics
• Relapse Prevention Models
